This course is specifically written for subject and aspect leaders. Changes to inspection and increased self-evaluation means that schools will be responsible for evaluating their own subjects and aspects.

This course will help you:

• Be clear about the role of subject and aspect leaders.
• Know how to monitor, evaluate and report on:
  • Planning
  • Standards of achievement
  • The curriculum
• Understand how and when to assess, record and report achievement.
• Celebrate and certificate the curriculum – being clear about what the learner gets.
• Help colleagues with your subject, to develop, achieve and present evidence of progress.
• be more accountable for subjects and aspects such as SEN, Gifted and Talented, Foundation Stage, Literacy, Numeracy and ICT across the curriculum.

This course will:

• Outline the role of the subject leaders and aspect leaders.
• Make clear what should be in the subject leader's file.
• Provide formats for recording visits to monitor and report on visits to other colleagues' classrooms.
• Help with how and when to monitor, evaluate and report on a subject across the school.
• Help with how to show, monitor and present the standards for pupils' achievements.
• Enable subject leaders to be more accountable – providing formats.
• Encourage delegates to audit the subject and check on the way it is planned, assessed, recorded, reported and celebrated to determine standards of achievement.
• Help you to track progress over time so you are ready for inspection.
