How to be ready for Ofsted and other inspections in Primary, Secondary, Special Schools and PRUs (with a particular focus on leadership and management)

It is important that leaders and managers in special and mainstream schools and PRUs understand how the emphasis has changed since the last inspection round.

This important course is designed for special and mainstream schools for headteachers, senior leaders and managers plus governors, managers in Pupil Referral Units and other specialist provision in mainstream schools. It will also be useful for LEA staff and inspectors.

This course will explain:

  • How to prepare for the latest Ofsted inspections.
  • What aspects to self-evaluate.
  • What managers should do to self-evaluate and monitor the quality of education they provide.
  • How to show the evidence effectively and how to help your staff do the same.
  • How to complete and use the required forms well.
  • What the main changes are since the last round of inspections, especially related to leadership and management and assessment.

All course members will receive a very detailed file containing:

  • Training materials used on the day, including copies of OHTs and handouts.
  • Examples of self-evaluation checklists – how to use the Ofsted forms to prepare for inspection.
  • Guidelines of how to strengthen the use of IEP and other targets in lessons.
  • Guidance on how best to prepare your Governing Body for inspection.
  • Analysis of headteacher and subject leaders skills and attributes taken from the National Standards.
  • Examples of how to present attainment levels and show progress over time well and evaluate standards.
  • Examples of what evidence of improvement to keep.
