• Understanding Target Setting
... in Primary, Secondary and Special Schools, PRUs and Units
This course is specifically written for headteachers, deputy headteachers, senior leaders, SENCOs and governors, with particular responsibility for setting targets. It will also be very valuable for LEA and Higher Education staff who need to understand how the various targets, including the requirements for statutory targets, help to focus on and provide evidence of improvements. It will have a particular focus on SEN.
This course will:
- Explain how the various statutory and non-statutory targets fit together to focus on improvement.
- Explain the latest legal requirements directly related to special educational needs.
- Help you to prepare for Ofsted inspections and the increased focus on self-evaluation.
- Explain how the performance management of all staff links directly into target setting and improvement.
- Explain how subject leaders must contribute to target setting, evaluation and greater accountability in raising standards.
- Show how targets can be used to track and celebrate improvement and progress over time.
All course members will receive a course file containing:
- Training materials used on the day, including overheads to be used afterwards.
- Examples of various targets and recording formats on how to present and track attainment levels over time.
- Guidance notes on target setting.
- Examples of how subject leaders should set subject targets and report annually on progress.
- An assessment overview audit to help clarify good planning, assessment, recording and reporting policy, timings and celebrations.
